Gave Your First Dollar

Donated your own money to a cause you chose, researched, and can explain, not because you were asked to, not because someone pressured you.

The idea

Have your kid research the cause before donating, not just react to a sign or an ask. What does the organization actually do. How much of the dollar reaches the work. Who runs it. Most adults give without knowing any of this and feel good about it. The kid who looks before giving will give better, more confidently, and avoid the charities that waste donor money.

Steps
  1. Pick a cause your kid cares about. Not the one at checkout.
  2. Research: what they do, where money goes, who runs it.
  3. Decide an amount from your kid's own money.
  4. Donate. Save the receipt.
What counts

A documented donation from your kid's own money to a researched cause. The receipt plus a sentence is plenty.
