What is Capable?

Capable is a merit-badge system for children ages 5 to 17, organized around eight identity paths: Entrepreneur, Builder, Creative, Athlete, Treasurer, Communicator, Leader, AI Pilot. Every path contains twenty real-world milestones your child earns by producing evidence. No participation trophies.

Some milestones are starter badges: ordered for yourself, crossed the monkey bars, saved your first hundred dollars. Some are capstones that stop the room: grew a business to $10,000 in revenue, finished a marathon, built an AI tool used by a thousand strangers. Every submission is reviewed by a human.

Over ten years, your child accumulates a portfolio of up to 160 earned milestones and progresses through six ceremonial ranks. It is designed to become, over the decades, a parallel credential that colleges, employers, and your child themselves will respect and be proud of.
