The Leader · № 08
Set the Standard
Defined the rules, norms, or expectations of a group you led, wrote them down, got buy-in, enforced them consistently when tested.
The idea
Rules only mean something when they get enforced the first time someone breaks them. Have your kid write the rules with the group's input, post them visibly, then actually call the first violation. Avoiding that first enforcement is how every group's rules die quietly. The standard is what you do, not what you wrote. Groups read the enforcement, not the document.
Steps
- Write the rules with the group's input.
- Post them visibly.
- Call the first violation specifically.
- Apply consistently.
What counts
A group with documented rules and at least one enforced violation. The rules document plus the incident note is plenty.
