Fixed Something Broken

Diagnosed and repaired a broken object that a real person was about to throw away, and it still works 30 days later.

The idea

Before opening the broken thing, have your kid tell you what they think is wrong. Then have them write the guess down. They'll be wrong half the time. That's perfect. The wrong guess teaches them what to check next, what they didn't know about how the thing actually works. Adults skip diagnosis too. That's why they replace working parts and the problem comes back.

Steps
  1. Write the symptom and your guess at the cause before opening anything.
  2. Diagnose before replacing. Most repairs go faster with understanding.
  3. Repair with the same kind of part or one rated equal or better. Document substitutions.
  4. Test under real use for 30 days.
What counts

A broken object now works and is still working a month later. A photo before and after is plenty.
