Built a Website That Works
Built and deployed a website that lives at a real URL, does what it's supposed to do, and has been used by someone other than you.
The idea
Ship an ugly version that works. Live URL, one page, a real link your kid can text to one person. The first version embarrasses every builder. That's the marker that you actually shipped something instead of refining forever. Kids who polish before launching end up with a portfolio site nobody visited and a folder of half-finished projects. Ugly and live beats beautiful and never.
Steps
- Pick the platform in 30 minutes. Stop researching.
- Get one page live with one purpose.
- Send the URL to one person who'll use it, not just look.
- Fix whatever they got stuck on before adding features.
What counts
A live URL doing one real thing, used by at least one person other than your kid. The URL plus a sentence is plenty.
