Ran a Mile

Ran a timed mile without stopping, recorded the time, and ran it again a week later.

The idea

The first mile is mental. They'll want to stop at the half. Don't let them walk. Slow down instead. Shuffle if you have to. A slow mile run all the way through is worth twice a fast half-mile with a walking break. Pace is the actual lesson. Most adult runners still haven't internalized that the goal is finishing, not running fast for a quarter.

Steps
  1. Set the pace at conversation speed.
  2. If they want to walk, slow to a shuffle instead. Don't break the run.
  3. Time it honestly.
  4. Run it again a week later. Same route. Compare.
What counts

A timed mile run twice without stopping, both times recorded. Two written times are plenty.
